- Description
- This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. It is a Valentine's Day postcard that depicts a young boy dressed in a military outfit similar to the Union Army in the American Civil War. He looks shyly at his rifle as two young girls glance over a wall towards him. The inscription perpetuates the idea common in the 20th century that military service coincides with bravery and masculinity.
This postcard is used and dated 13 February 1914. - Notes
