- This is a photograph of Town Hall decorated to celebrate the royal visit of 1939. The entrance to the building is decorated with a large crown.
On June 6, 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's train stopped at the Junction Station in St. Marys in order to take on water for the steam engine. Children from all of the local schools traveled to the Junction Station to greet the King and Queen, and although the children were given priority to see them, there was plenty of space for adults to stand and join in on the welcome too. - Notes
