- Description
- This is a photograph of the former West Ward School when it was under reconstruction in 1979. The old school was opened in 1866 in order to accommodate the growing number of students in St. Marys. Eventually all students were moved to the new Central School or North Ward School (Arthur Meighen Public School) instead, and the town decided to convert it into a day care nursery called the Early Learning Centre. The Early Learning Centre remained at the old West Ward School until it was moved in 2016.
