- Description
- This photograph shows the Town Hall decorated to celebrate Homecoming in 1978. Banners with blue, white and red stripes are hung from windows and railings.
The Town Hall was built in 1891 to replace the previous Town Hall located on the same site that burned down. It was built with St. Marys limestone and, according to a member of the 1891 Building Committee, was designed to have ornamentation with a "lasting and permanent character." After it was built, it became a local attraction and trademark of the town. - Notes
