- A description on the back of this photograph says "JW Eedy (great grandad) (his) first flight," and notes that the plane he is flying is the Cirrus Moth. The Cirrus Moth was a 1920s two-seat training and touring aircraft. J.W. Eedy in this instance stands for John Wolfe Eedy, the great grandfather of R. Lorne Eedy.
In 1887, John Wolfe Eedy purchased the St. Marys Journal and later amalgamated this paper with The St. Marys Argus. He was the father of Lorne A. Eedy, who succeeded him as the publisher of the Journal Argus. John Wolfe Eedy died in 1932. - Notes
