- This is a portrait photo of Sub Lieutenant Richard A. Simon (the donor's father), who served on Her Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) Stone Town. Simon was a professional artist for the Toronto Star before and after the war, starting with sketching and later moving on to painting. He had illustrated many naval scenes, including some involving Stone Town. He was involved with the Sea cadet program in Toronto for several years after his service and retired from the Toronto Star in 1975. He passed away in October of 2004 at the age of 94.

- Condition: photo has a crease in the top right corner and a few scratch marks around the chest area. There is also a faint white stain near the right button.
