Made of metal with a silver coating. Sits on a block of wood with an attached pen. A representation of the last spike driven into the Cobourg and Peterbourgh Railway. Inscribed “The Last Spike. The Cobourg & Peterbourgh Railway Company 1858-1898”. It also has a signed Railway Bond on the back side which states, “The Cobourg & Peterbourgh Railway Company. £3. St.9 . Payable at the Banking House of Mess Glyn. Mills & Co. London. £3. St.9 ” signed by the Treasurer. It would appear to be a bond that was not paid, as those that were submitted would have remained with the Treasurer.
