- Description
- While social distancing and other restrictions have played havoc on our routines, it’s the unexpected that can truly throw a wrench into things. A fall, a broken hip, ambulance and fire attendants in hazard equipment, a locked-down hospital where I cannot visit to see my beloved and cheer him while he recovers - these make it extra hard. Instead of sheltering in place together, we are now alone: he in a hospital room where he sees only the carers who need to attend to his recovery, and I in our home which is now so silent without him. We are fortunate - he is expected to recover and be home soon, while many will never come home. My heart aches for them.
