Description
- clock (A) quarter sawn oak case, rectangular with arched top (H. 36 cm Depth 12.5 cm); stepped base (W. 27.2 cm Depth 16.6 cm) with four rounded disc feet (H. 0.8 cm); sides are decorated with applied quarter sawn oak decoration that suggests a pot and lintel doorway; back of body covered with different variety of wood and secured with four screws; round metal door (Dia. 12 cm)inside back with a sticker that reads in part: "SWISS WATCHMAKER C. Brunner ... LONDON, ONT. ..."
- white painted face (dia. 14cm) with a brass edge; black Arabic numbers and manufacturer's name "the Arthur Pequenat Clock Co. Berlin, Canada"; tow key holes (dia. 1 cm) located adjacent to numbers 8 and 4 on face.
- (B) cover, glass with brass edge, convex, dia. 15.2 cm
- (C) clock key, on obverse stamped "8"; on reverse stamped "SWISS PRECISION / MADE IN CANADA"
- (D) weight, dia. 4.5cm.
- clock was a wedding gift to Frank William Wilson and Jennie Shoemaker who married in Breslau, Ontario May 4, 1892. The clock was given to their son J. D. Wilson on their death and passed to J. D.'s wife Helen (nee Sherman) when he died on November 29, 1988. The clock then passed to Douglas R. Morse (a nephew of Helen's).
