- Description
- - brown glazed stoneware handled jug with impressed merchant's name "THE HUB/MERLIN" on front
- The "Hub" was a general grocery and dry goods store in Merlin who would have ordered stoneware vessels such as this, impressed with the retailer's name (at a slight additional cost) from Welding Pottery in Brantford. Only one other crock (an open salt glazed crock) with this merchant's name is presently known hence this piece is quite rare.
