Description
This is an image of Lauriston Cruttenden standing on a boardwalk in front of his house at 36 Ontario St. N., pasted onto a sheet with a label on it. Mr. Cruttenden was one of the early settlers of St. Marys and built this house in 1857, which was the first brick house built in St. Marys. Allen James Chesterfield bought the house in 1916, and he, his wife Annie, and their six children moved in on March 9th, which was his daughter Mary's 9th birthday. This house is still standing, though the picket fence has since been removed and some features have changed.

More biographical information on the Chesterfield family is available at the St. Marys Museum.
