Description
A red, green and white jacquard coverlet woven circa 1880 by F. Edward Graf. This pattern is double rose in lattice with medallion border in reversed chevron 'goose-eye'. The warp (vertical threads) is white cotton, the weft (horizontal threads) is red and green wool. The image shows the front and back of the coverlet and the intricate pattern is visible on both sides. The intricate pattern shows up on both sides with inverse colouring. There is fringe on three sides. The cartouche in the bottom corners read "DOUBLE/ROSE" mirrored in four squares.
