- - pair of medals, one silve disc surmounted by a straight silver suspender through which runs a watered silk ribbon with gold centre flanked by narrow bands of white, black, and blue
- the obverse depicts the bust of King George V
- second medal is a bronze disc surmounted by a ring suspender hung from a watered silk rainbow ribbon , the obverse depicting a winged figure of Victory
- both medals have the recipient's name impressed on their rim "880559 PTE. J.A. SUGRUE. 18-CAN.INF.", the medal ribbons are attached to a cardboard bar which is stitched a safety pin
