- A group photo of officers who had recently been installed into the Order of the Eastern Star. The women wear white dresses and flower brooches while the men wear dark suits. The first row consists of 7 women and 2 men, while the second row is made up of 9 women. The photo appears to be taken in an Order of the Eastern Star meeting room, as indicated by the wall pictures and flags. There are also two flower pots, one on either side of the group.
The Order of the Eastern Star has an active chapter in St. Marys. They meet at the St Marys Presbyterian Church on 147 Widder Street East.

"The Order of the Eastern Star was formed in the mid-19th century by Dr. Rob Morris, a Master Mason and Poet Laureate of Masonry, who wanted to share the principles of Masonry with women. He and his wife, Charlotte Mendenhall Morris, developed the concepts and beliefs that formed the Order of the Eastern Star."
"Many researchers believe it had a French origin as early as 1703. By some, this is claimed to be the first inception of “Female Masonry” or “Androgynous Degrees,” i.e., degrees for both men and women."
"In 1866, Dr. Morris became associated with Mr. Robert Macoy, who took over the planning and organization of the Order. In 1867 and 1868, Mr. Macoy compiled and published a Ritual, which was the beginning of the organization of the Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star in the United States and internationally. The first Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star opened in Michigan in 1867." - Date of Original
