Description
A photograph showing a Mueller Richardson milk truck.

Mueller Richardson was a dairy equipment plant that operated in St. Marys from around 1886 to 1972. In 1886, Charles Richardson and William Webster joined forces to create the Richardson-Webster Company and sell dairy equipment. In 1900, William Webster sold his interests in the company, leaving C. Richardson to assume full control. The company name was then changed to C. Richardson & Co. During the early 1900's, the company also expanded their products to sell almost every item required by cheese factories, creameries, and milk dealers.

In 1925, C. Richardson died, leaving his son, C.E Richardson to run the business. By 1947, huge expansions had doubled the size of the operation in St. Marys and in 1955, the company entered into an agreement with the Mueller corporation from Springfield, Missouri where they shipped milk coolers and Richardson sold and installed them in farms. Around 1966, C. Richardson & Co was sold to Walt Myers and Paul Mueller, who then expanded the plant in 1968 and 1969. The St. Marys operation was eventually closed by Mueller in 1972 due to a drop in sales.
