Rev. William Caven, D.D. was born Dec. 26, 1830-- Kirkcollm, Wigstownshire, Scotland. At an early age, he moved to Canada with his parents, Mary Milroy and John Caven.He was married to Margaret Goldie. He died Dec. 1, 1904--Toronto, Ont. Buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.
"In 1873, he was appointed principal of Knox College." and "He was also appointed president of the Pan-Presbyterian Alliance with headquarters in Geneva and though the Presbyterian Church recognizes no "leaders," Caven's international reputation had made hin the virtual head of the World's Presbyterian churches."
