- Description
- Photo of the interior of the St. Marys Methodist Church taken about 1900. In this view one can see the beautiful decorative arches, the pipes for the organ as well as the front chairs and the pews.
This Church was built in 1879 as a Methodist Church. On June 10, 1925, the Methodist church officially became The St. Marys United Church, with the Methodists and some of the members of the two Presbyterian congregations joining together as one community.
It has remained the United Church since then, and is still located on the corner of Church Street South and Elgin Street East. - Notes
- Condition: We have three copies of this photo and I selected the best of the three to digitize. The photo is definitely worn, but thankfully the image is clear (as per Michelle Stemmler, November 2008).
