Description

Members of the Loyal Orange Lodge parade on Queen Street, July 12, 1917. The photograph was taken from a rooftop on the south side of Queen Street, looking eastward toward Church Street. Dickson's store on the northwest corner of Queen and Church, the Town Hall and the buildings to the east along Queen can be seen clearly. So can the many overhead wires above Queen Street. A sign for Grey Photo Studio is visible in the lower righthand corner and this picture might have been taken from the skylight in Mr. Gray's second floor studio.

Notes

Condition: Fair. Aging and showing some wear. The important information in the image is still very clear, however.

Inscriptions

"Intersection of Queen & Church Sts., looking east, showing town hall"

NOTE: The inscription also identifies the marchers as Masons. But since the photo is dated July 12, they are almost certainly Orangemen.
