Description

This coin is from Upper Canada and is dated 1816. On one side the date is in the centre surrounded by the words: "SUCCESS TO COMMERCE & PEACE". On the other side there is an urn in the centre, topped by two angels holding sprigs of laurel leaves over it. This is surrounded by the words: "SR. ISAAC BROCK THE HERO OF UPPER CANADA".

The coin was found on property previously owned by Allan Nixon. During the War of 1812, Nixon was known to have owned a blacksmith shop. It is also believed that the he was forced to shoe American horses while the area was under US occupation.
