Description

A cup and saucer, dated c. 1790, with a blue willow pattern and a gold edge. This cup was made without a handle. The pair is also called a tea bowl and saucer.

It is believed that this item was in use, before or during the time of the War of 1812, in "The Manor"; the home of Col. Robert Nelles (1761-1842).Nelles was a Lieutenant-colonel of the 4th Regiment of the Lincoln Militia by the end of the War. He was also known to have been a Justice of the Peace and had married many during the war.
