- James Reed stated that McDougal had been in his care for several months due to the wounds he sustained at the Battle of Lundy's Lane. He also mentions a wound in his thorax which had caused an amount of disposition for the patient. McDougal was in the Upper Canada Incorporated Militia during the War of 1812. It is said that he was also at Fort George on March 27, 1813 when it was taken by American troops.
