- Description
- This is a metal Betty Lamp with a hook attached to the handle. It is 28 cm high (lamp - 2.5 cm, handle - 8 cm, hook - 17.5 cm) x 7.5 cm long x 6 cm diameter. Lamps such as this would have been an important source of light during the War of 1812 and were essential to life in early Upper Canada. During the winter months, lamps provided warmth and light to be able to read, sew or accomplish the duties of the day. This item can currently be found at the Willoughby Museum.
