Description

This is a 3 piece uniform from the Commissariat department that belonged to Captain Robert Henry Dee, Aide-de-Camp to Sir Peregrine Maitland, Lt. Governor of Upper Canada.

The coatee is dark blue wool with a quilted wool lining, a velvet collar, cuffs with silver embroidery and gilt buttons that say “COMMISSARIAT STAFF”. It is single breasted with a vented back that falls into tails, both of which have silver embroidery on the tip. There are also 12 buttons on the back.

The trousers are off-white wool with a flap in the front and three wooden cloth covered buttons. There are five buttons across the front (four bone and 1 cloth covered) and two at the side pockets (cloth covered). Material has been added by the CCI to lengthen the pant legs.

The bicorne hat is beaver felt with gold bullion tassels, a gold ruffled cockade on the front and a brass that also say “COMMISSARIAT STAFF”.
