I have one of these and have been trying to figure out exactly what period it was from. My great-grandfather, Webster Brookes Hill, was from Whiting, Maine and passed it down through the family. He was in the Civil War with the 28th Maine Infantry and I originally thought it to be from that war. Someone in his family must have passed it on to him. I am still wondering if it is American or British seeing as they both wore crimson silk sashes. If anyone can help me it would be appreciated. Thank You, I enjoyed visiting the site.
