Description

These artifacts are mounted on red felt to the back of its case (A). The items are (from left to right):

B. A piece of an unidentified metal object that looks like a scraper and two musket balls

C. Remnant of a small brush and wooden handle

D. Remnant of a box.

E. In the middle is the cross-belt-plate of the 89th Regiment of foot, surrounded by six buttons of the 89th and one unidentified. The second battalion of this regiment arrived at Quebec in August 1814. The Light Company of the first battalion were involved at Longwood and Black Rock. The 89th were also engaged at Lundy`s Lane, Chrystler’s Farm and the assault on Fort Erie. The regiment was authorized to carry “Niagara” on its colours. After the war, the regiment returned home and disbanded in November 1816

F. The left side has two buttons of the 103rd Regiment of Foot. This regiment was raised in 1805 and fought at Sackett`s Harbour, Plattsburg, Lundy`s Lane and the assault on Fort Erie. As a result, there were authorized to wear “Niagara” on its colours. The 103rd disband at Chelmsford October 24th, 1817.
