- A portrait of Jediah Prendergast who was the first non-military doctor in the Thorold/St. Catharines area. He was also the father-in-law of William Hamilton Merritt, builder of the First Welland Canal.
This unframed oil painting is 29 3/4 inches in height, 25 inches in length, and 1 inch in width.
The painting of Prendergast shows him as having short gray hair and dark eyes. He is wearing a black suit with a white shirt, collar and neck tie.
He is painted on a dark background that ranges from light brown to a dark brown. There is also a wooden column on the far right in the background.
