- This is a colourized photo of the west side of Thessalon's Main Street. The street is still dirt and boardwalks can be along the left side.
There are various groups of people, sitting and standing along the street. A horse-drawn wagon can be seen on the right.
- Inscriptions
- The note on the bottom of the photo reads: "West Side of the Thessalon Main Street Late 1800's. Third building is the Thessalon House, the blue building is Dobie's Store. Notice the roof with the hanging light, This was a carbon light that would be lowered each evening and water added causing a gas to form from the carbon, it was then lit making possible Thessalon's first street light. Notice the board walk sidewalks and there are no electric poles."
