- Description
- The Chicora was built at Liverpool in 1864 to be used as a blockade runner for the Confederates during the American Civil War. She then spent several years on Lake Superior. She was bought by the Niagara Navigation Company in 1877 for service between their Toronto and Niagara ports. In this photograph the Chicora is in the foreground; the sails belong to other ships.
