Hammond, Margaret (née Doran) (Died)

Peacefully, surrounded by family at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Margaret (Doran) Hammond of Thamesford in her 81st year. Loving wife of Wallis for over 59 yrs., and dear mother of Betty (Wolfgang Hofer), David (Kerstin Heeren), Grant (Dorien Murray), Steven (Nancy Gough), Larry (Jane McGee), Kenneth (Cindy Gardner) and Carol (Jamie Lafreniere). Special friend to Mike Richardson (Irma Jean Bajnok) and Gwen Jones Leslie, as well as a friend and guide to many other young people. She is also a beloved grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, with another one on the way. Predeceased by her father Joseph (1968), mother Elizabeth (1986), her son Grant (1988) and granddaughter Krista Hofer (2000). She was a public school teacher, member of Ingersoll Junior Farmers, Banner United Church and their U. C. W., as well as Middlesex United Church Women's Presbyterial and Women's Institute. Margaret helped organize many community events, led many programs and made many, many wonderful meals for family and friends. She will be missed by her family, friends and extended family in Northern Ireland - Godspeed. Friends may call at the Harland B.Betzner Funeral Home, 177 Dundas Street Thamesford on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Banner United Church, Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 at 2 PM, Pastor Mary Dillon officiating assisted by Reverend Maurice Francis, with visitation during the hour preceding the funeral service. Interment at the adjoining Banner Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to Alexandra Hospital Foundation, Banner United Church Mission and Service Fund, Canadian Bible Society or any other charity of one's choice
