Rossi, Orfeo (Died)

ROSSI, Orfeo - Passed away suddenly on Monday, May 16, 2011, Orfeo Rossi of Woodstock in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Elda Rossi (nee Vacilotto). Dear father of Loriana Rossi (John Dibenedetto) and Francesca Rossi (Robert McManus). Proud Nonno of Maya McManus. Dear brother of Maria Rossi. Also survived by nieces and nephews in Italy. Predeceased by his brothers Clemente, Ernesto, Carlo, and Ettore. Born in Gandino, Bergamo, Italy, Orfeo met his wife Elda in Switzerland. After their marriage, they immigrated to Canada, initially settling in Toronto and quickly to Woodstock, where he made his home for the next 50 years. Orfeo was proud to call himself a Canadian. He worked at Lafrance Textiles, then worked for Standard Tube for over 30 years. Orfeo will be remembered for his love of pajamas, walking on Pittock trails, coffee with his friends at Tim Horton's, television, books, and arguing politics. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the LONGWORTH FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004), on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 7 - 9 pm. The memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 904 Dundas St., Woodstock, on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00 am with Father Slawomir Szwagrzyk officiating.
