SYMINGTON, Cheryl Shelby (Formerly Innes, Nee Matheson) - 48 of Vancouver, BC, died Feb 25th, 2011 in her home after a long battle with cancer. Cheryl was born Apr 21st, 1962 in Brantford, Ontario and spent much of her earlier years living and forming a close bond with her Malan grandparents in Woodstock before moving to the Matheson farm in Embro. Cheryl graduated Conestoga College and soon travelled out west to Alberta and later to Vancouver. Cheryl enjoyed many different jobs in her early life including stints in the tourist industry in Sunshine Village and Maligne Lake in Alberta. Cheryl moved to Vancouver and worked for a time with the VPD before starting what would be her lifelong career with the Vancouver Park Board in the QE District Offices, a job which gave her great satisfaction. Cheryl was mother to Russel and Mackenzie and wife to Bob. She was predeceased by her mother Nancy and is survived by brothers Shawn (Tamie), Dean (Julie) and Mark (Amy) and stepfather Tom Matheson, her Uncle Terry (Pauline) Malan, sister in law Ann (Alan) Hayton, and many nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes the Innes's of the Tavistock-Embro area of Ontario and friends in the Riley Park area of Vancouver and Harp Lake in Ontario. A private family interment was held at Mountainview Cemetery and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday March 13th from 1-2 pm at Brooksdale United Church in Brooksdale, Ontario. Donations in her memory may be made to the BC Cancer Agency. Loving and well loved.
