McCARTNEY, John Murray - passed away peacefully on Friday February 3, 2012 at the People Care Centre, Tavistock. John McCartney formerly of RR#1 Bright in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Flora Armstrong who predeceased him May 14, 2006. Dear father of Mary Faulkner of Tavistock, Jean McCartney of Toronto and Kathy Mutch of Stratford. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Doug Faulkner, Beth Faulkner (Dan Yeoman), Erin Mutch, great granddaughter Meagan Faulkner and by good friends Opal and Stephen Kwasnick. John spent his early childhood years in Ayr. As a young boy he and brothers George and Hugh moved to a farm purchased by his parents Hugh & Jessie on the 14th Line of Blandford Township. John married Flora Armstrong who lived on the neighbouring farm in 1942. They were together for 64 years. John and his brother George were partners in their mixed farming operation. John was the last surviving member of his family. A private family graveside service was conducted at the Ratho Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the GLENDINNING FUNERAL HOME , 40 William Street Plattsville.
