ZEHR, Edward E. - Edward Emanuel Zehr, 88, passed away with his family by his side at the Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock on Monday, October 22, 2012. He was born in East Zorra Township on April 25, 1924 a son of the late Emanuel and Emma (Brenneman) Zehr. He had farmed in East Zorra Township for most of his lifetime and was a member of Cassel Mennonite Church. Ed is survived by his wife, the former Laurene Elizabeth Bast, whom he married on June 14, 1952; five children, Cheryl and husband Ronald D. Bender of R.R.#2 Tavistock; Dwight and wife Donna Zehr of R.R.#1 Bright; Mary and husband Wayne Wagler of New Hamburg, Nancy Zehr and Robin Ramadhin of Milton; Elaine and husband Ralph Erb of Seven Persons, Alberta; thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie and Jim Crowley, Dana and Trevor Rhodes, Zenon and Stacey Bender, Nathan and Radhika Zehr, Daryl and Kristen Cressman, Scott and Jennifer Zehr, Matthew and Emily Wagler, Marcus and Julie Wagler, Candice and Andrew Sauder, Katie Wagler and fiancé Jeffrey Foster, Landon and Jessica Erb, Julian Erb and Reid Erb; nineteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Helena Zehr and Emily Hughes-Zehr; brother-in-law, Lester Bechtel and "Bast" brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by one great grandson, his brothers, sisters and spouses, Austin Zehr, Elizabeth Zehr and husbands, Elton Wagler and Amos Zehr, Elmer Zehr and wife Violet, Ada Yantzi and husband Oliver, Dorothy Bechtel and husbands, Orval Lichty and John Worden and "Bast" brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Relatives and friends will be received in the FRANCIS FUNERAL HOME, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. Pastor Glenn Zehr will officiate. A family graveside committal service will be held prior to the funeral service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Woodstock General Hospital Foundation or the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 1-519-655-2431
