Horvath, Julius (Died)

HORVATH, Julius - Passed away peacefully in his 94th year on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Caressant Care Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past ten years. Predeceased by his wife Anna (2008), he was the eldest and last surviving member of his family of four sisters and two brothers, all of Hungary. He is survived by nieces and nephews and their families in the local area - Agnes Mickelson of London, Ed Gyurki of Woodstock, Jim (Mary) Horvath, Les (Joan) Horvath of Cambridge, and Joseph Siba of Toronto, as well as many nieces and nephews in Hungary. Julius was born in Hungary and came to Canada at the time of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. He was a resident of Woodstock since then. A graduate of George Brown College Chef School in Toronto, he was employed as a chef at the Oxford Regional Centre for several decades until his retirement. Devoted to his wife throughout the 62 years of their marriage, he was also known for his kindness and generosity to many. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Woodstock for over fifty years and his faith was a very important part of his life. The family appreciates and is grateful for the excellent care he was given by the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home. Friends will be received at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 904 Dundas Street, Woodstock on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
