SHEARER, George Ross - Suddenly at his home on Tuesday February 5, 2013, George Shearer of Woodstock, formerly of Bright, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Geraldine (Geri) and the late Margaret Shearer. Loving father of Don of Woodstock, Elaine of Vancouver BC, Janice Robinson and husband George of Woodstock. George will be missed by his grandsons Adam and Graham, and by Geri's children George Barnes and wife Betty of Foldens, Allan Barnes and friend Claire of Belmont, and 6 grandchildren. Brother of Fred Shearer of Bright, brother-in-law of Robert Weber and wife Joan of Waterloo, Joyce Shearer of Orillia. Predeceased by sisters Mary Weber, Margaret Hutchinson and husband George, brother Doug Shearer. George was a member of St. David's United Church, Plattsville Masonic Lodge # 178 for 60 years, honourary member of Oak Branch Masonic Lodge # 261 Innerkip, Thames Valley Chapter O.E.S. # 199, Khaki O.E.S. # 27. Friends will be received at St. David's United Church, 190 Springbank Ave. N., Woodstock on Friday 2 - 4 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at the church at 6:00 p.m. followed by an Eastern Star service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow the Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jane Van Patter officiating. Interment at Chesterfield Cemetery, Bright at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. David's United Church, Norwich United Church, or VON Sakura House. Arrangements entrusted to THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME , Norwich (519) 863-3020.
