WEBB, Francis Royston - August 29, 1922 - February 15, 2011 - "Our War Hero" - Frank was born and raised in Beachville, Ontario. Later meeting and marrying Ruth Marie (Ranger) on September 29, 1945. After joining the Oxford Rifles in 1942, (with the "Beachville Boys"), he was assigned out west to Prince George. Frank also served with the Queen’s Own Rifles out of Winnipeg. After serving with six months of active duty in France and being proud to fight for his country, he returned home, by hospital plane, from England after being wounded twice. These wounds inhibited a lot of his physical activities in later years. During his working history, he was a dedicated employee at Truck Engineering from 1948 to 1979. Many years of devotion and love were spent together with his wife Ruth until her passing in December 2000. After residing with his daughter Linda, his home away from home became Caressant Care Nursing Home, where he lived and died with respect and dignity on February 15th surrounded by his daughters Ruth Anne, Linda, and devoted companion Marie Paton. Frank is lovingly remembered always by daughters Ruth Anne (Merv) Derbowka, Mary Lou Webb, and Linda (Robert - 2007) Winters. Also son-in-law Roy (Margy - 1999) Ipsen. He shared precious memories with granddaughter Tara Marie McDonald, and great grandchildren Tori (2009) and Daryn Stafford (his "army buddy"). As last surviving member of the "Webb" family, Frank was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. His memory will live on also by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and their families. Other great pleasures in Frank’s life were the summer outings in Aaron Lake and later especially Florida (dog races, flea markets), coffee and coconut cream pie at Zellers or a great day at Woodstock Horse Races. Frank attended College Avenue United Church and was a member of the Southgate Centre and Beachville Legion. A Celebration of Life will be held at LONGWORTH FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 2 - 5 pm at which time all family and friends are invited to attend and share in their closeness to a "great man". In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association would be appreciated. Burial will be held at a later date at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. "Your memories will live on in each and every heart." Love ya and God Bless!
