SMITH, Robert R. - At LHSC- Victoria Campus on Sunday October 20, 2013. Robert Rudolph "Bob" Smith of London in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Doris Lenore Smith (Brewster, Stone). Cherished father of Andrea M.A. Smith. Dear step father of Robert (Debbie) Brewster and Colleen Brewster. Loved grandfather of Alexandra Khan and Victoria and Phillip Brewster. Also survived by his brother-in-law George (Helen) Andrin. Predeceased by his first wife Valerie V. Smith (nee Andrinovich) (1978) and his parents David R. and Maude M. (Nee Wyman) Smith. Bob was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick class of 1943 and one of the founding members of Ure and Smith Engineers and Surveyors, as well as secretary treasurer for Vance, Needles, Bergendolf and Smith. Past president of Woodstock Engineering and Consultants and Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. Bob is a past chairman and member Emeritus, Woodstock General Hospital Board of Trustees and Officer of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. During WWII Bob served as an officer in the R.C.E.. Over the years, he enjoyed his time being a volunteer driver for cancer patients, driving them to and from therapy, and always loved to watch a good game of baseball, play a round of golf, or spend some relaxing time fishing. He and Doris were able to take several cruises and trips taking in the scenes anywhere from Europe to Hawaii. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at the BROCK & VISSER FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday October 25, 2013 at 11am. If desired, contributions to the Make A Wish Foundation or the Palliative Care Unit of Victoria Hospital, London would be appreciated. Personal condolences may be sent at www.brockandvisser.com. The family is extremely grateful for the loving care given by the doctors and nurses of both the Emergency Department and D 7200 during his last days. Special thank you to Lynn Hughes Marsh of the Palliative Care Program at the Hospital.
