SADKOWSKI, Irene - Gently slipped away, with both of her beloved daughters by her side, on October 20th, 2013 at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre. Loving mother of Fran Carter and Flo & Steve Leacock. Dear grandma to Andy & Helen Carter, Natalie Carter, Marty & Jen Carter, Paul Carter, Lee & Katherine Carter, Sam Carter, Ted Wakefield, Greg & Sue Wakefield and Stephen & Michelle Leacock. Great-Grandma and Prababcia to Lauren & Nathan Carter, Max & Tory Wakefield, Sarah, Ben, Josh and Maggie Wakefield. Eldest sister to Chester & Helen Oberski, Gus & Betty Oberski, Bruno & Betty Oberski, Stephanie & the late Chester Peycha and Toni & Joe Cavar. Irene was proud of her family and loved family gatherings, large and small. She enjoyed music, playing piano at home and the organ at church. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Brantford and St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock. Irene was a founding member of the CWL at St. Joseph's and continued as an active member for many years. At St. Rita's, she was a member of the RCIA team, the funeral choir and the ministry to people in Nursing Homes. A special thank you to Dr. John Hadley, the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre - Chestnut Lane, for their homestyle humour that they shared so generously with Irene and her family. The family will receive friends at the "THORPE BROTHERS' FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL", on Wednesday, October 23rd, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with Parish prayers and Rosary being recited at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 235 Brant Avenue, on Thursday, October 24th at 10 am. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery.
