Den Tandt, Remi (Died)

DEN TANDT, Remi - It is with great sadness that the family of Remi Karel Den Tandt announces his passing on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013. Remi was born in Herzele, Belgium in l937. Remi is survived by six siblings: André (Shirley), of Owen Sound, Hubert (Jovita), of Brazil, Hilda (Eugene) Van Buggenhout, of Woodstock, Ont., Julien (Joan), of Heidelberg, Ont., Joseph (Andrea), of New Zealand and Marie-Louise (Michael) Donovan, of Owen Sound. Remi was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Paul and Yvonne Den Tandt (nee Vermeulen). Remi immigrated to Canada with his family in 1957. They resided in Guelph until 1958, when they moved to the family farm on the Stage Road near Woodstock, Ontario. He attended the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, graduating in 1962. He studied seven languages and was fluent in four. Remi managed his own construction firm in the Huntsville area for many years and built a reputation as an excellent builder. He enjoyed the beauty of nature and fishing and he loved sports, especially soccer. He was very proud to have been a member of the 1958 Canadian Senior Intercollegiate Soccer Co-championship Team. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Central Place in Owen Sound for their excellent care. The family also wishes to thank the staff involved in caring for Remi at the Grey-Bruce Health Services. A Memorial Service for Remi Den Tandt will be held at a later date.
