To Irene the most treasured aspect of her life was her family. She was the devoted wife and best friend for over 71 years of the late Harold Edwin Kaufman (January 9th, 2013). She was his constant companion. She enjoyed spending many a Sunday afternoon at the valley with all of her family. She was an avid hockey fan having met Harold at the hockey arena. She loved her trips to Florida, North Carolina, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Irene enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren with rhymes and limericks. She had a keen mind for math and remembering birthdays. She and Harold loved to dance and play cards. She will be remembered with treasured love by her son Keith and his wife Shirley (Kitchener); Joan and her husband Julien Den Tandt (Heidelberg); and her son Jack and his wife Alicia (Woodstock). Affectionately known as "Gran" by her grandchildren, Julie Den Tandt and her fiancée Mike MacPherson (Toronto); John Den Tandt (Sydney, Australia); Jeanine Den Tandt (Sister Claudia Marie, New York); Mark Kaufman and his wife Beth (Guelph); Joanne Kaufman and her husband Chris O'Neill (St. Catharines) and Kelly Ann Callaghan and her husband Tom Traplin (Kitchener). Irene is also survived by her brother-in-law Alex Post; sisters-in-law Irma Hutchison and Gloria Kaufman and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Irene was the 7th child of a family of 13 of the late Frederick Eugene Hartman and Margaret Johanna (nee Walton) of New Hamburg.
