PARKES, Ruth - At her residence, peacefully in her sleep, on Thursday August 28, 2014, Dorothy Ruth (nee Henderson) Parkes in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Parkes (2004). Dear mother of Bill Parkes and his wife Margie, Mary Ann Roy and her husband Peter and Andrew Parkes and his wife Laura. Loved grandmother of Andrew (Beth) Parkes, Leslie Parkes (Dane Castle), Candace (Thom) Marshall, Lauren (Earl) Carter, Garrah Parkes, Helaena Parkes, Jonathan Parkes, and great grandmother to Cole, Niles, Charlie and Grace. Predeceased by her sisters Gwen, Marion and her brother Bill. Ruth was the kindergarten teacher at Victoria School in Woodstock for many years. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the BROCK AND VISSER FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Saturday September 6, 2014 from 1:00 pm where a memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Oxford County Red Cross Society would be appreciated.
