GARRETT, Rev. Kent Douglas James - Born in Montreal on March 31, 1937, passed away peacefully at Sakura House, Woodstock with his family by his side on Saturday January 3rd, 2015 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Comrie) Garrett since 1988. Loving father of Kimberley (Irwin) Garrett-Elman, Kathryn Garrett, Nancy Garrett, Tyler (Trish) Hart, Bradley Hart, and Christine (Sean) Gannon. Caring grandfather of Aidan, Ashley, Kyle, Jadon, Kaitlyn, Jonay and Tanner. Kent spent over 25 years as an administrator in the Ontario College System; Sir Sanford Fleming (Lindsay), Seneca (Markham and Toronto) with his last 12 years at Fanshawe College Woodstock Campus. He was an ordained minister with the United Church of Canada having charges at Hickson, Hebron, Beachville, Sweaburg, Foldens, West Oxford and Burgessville United Churches. Kent was also a co-founder of the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers in 1984. Friends are invited to St. David’s United Church, 190 Springbank Ave. Woodstock on Saturday January 17th, 2015 from 12-2 pm, where the memorial service will be held to honour Kent’s life in the sanctuary at 2 pm. In lieu of floral tributes, the family would favour memorial contributions to V.O.N. Sakura House and may be arranged through the BROCK AND VISSER FUNERAL HOME , Woodstock, 519-539-0004.
