SEARS, Robert "Bob" Russell - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the Sears family announces the passing of Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad. Bob, aka. Poppy to close friends and family passed away April 1st, 2015 at Caressant Care Nursing Home in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Reta Sears (nee Hiltz) (2012). Loving father of Bob Jr. (Dara) of Woodstock, Deb Craig (Dave) of Oshawa and Carol Sawyer (Chuck) of Waterford. Devoted Grandfather to Randy Sears (Danielle), Jessie Brooks (Chris), Ryan Sears, B.J. Sawyer (Dana), Helen Mels (Brent), Caroline Sawyer, Katy Sawyer (Devon), Heather Craig (CLO), Robin Craig (Michael) and Darcy Craig. Great Grandfather to Shebly and Trista Simms, Alexa and Shaelyn Mels, Cori, Mathew and Braedan Sears and Elyse Craig-Nucifora. Bob will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, especially his biggest ally Joy Walpole. Bob was born in Springhill Junction, Nova Scotia, March 27th, 1924. The son of William and Elizabeth Sears (nee Canning) and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Predeceased by his ten brothers and four sisters. Bob was a dedicated life member of the Woodstock Legion Branch #55 and was very proud to have served his country in the Second World War. Enlisting at the tender age of seventeen, fighting in Sicily and Italy before being taken prisoner and incarcerated in a Nazi Prison Camp for two years, escaping just prior to the end of the war. Friends will be received at the BROCK AND VISSER FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday April 7, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 1pm. Interment in the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Royal Canadian Legion Br#55 would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com. A service under auspices Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 Woodstock will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm
