VAN BUGGENHOUT, Eugene - Surrounded by his family at VON Sakura House on Monday, March 7, 2016, Eugene Gabriel Gerard Van Buggenhout of Woodstock at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Hilda Van Buggenhout (nee DenTandt) for 54 years. Dear father of Christine Gasparini (Robert), Michael Van Buggenhout (Margaret), Veronica Gale (Jason) and Tanya Rodgerson (late David). Loving grandfather of Jasmine (Aaron), Evan, Benjamin, Heather, Samuel and Leona and proud great grandfather of Archer. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Sylvia (late Roger), Anne (late Joe) and Loraine. Eugene is predeceased by his parents Silvain and Leonie Van Buggenhout (nee Redant). Born in Heldergem, East Flanders, Belgium, Eugene emmigrated to Canada with his family in 1948. Dad took quiet pride in the success of the farm and will be warmly remembered by the guys in the field. He also had a special place in his heart for his Baker's Dozen coffee shop friends. We are deeply grateful for the care that Dad received in the palliative care unit at the Woodstock Hospital and especially for the kind attention given by Diane Murray. Most of all, we thank both our Van Buggenhout and Den Tandt families for showing us new depths of the love of family. Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Thursday from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said at 4 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1420 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11 am with Father Rick Dales as celebrant.
