BOOTH, Walter G. - Peacefully after a long illness at the Woodstock Hospital on Saturday April 2, 2016. Walter Booth, of Woodstock, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Marilyn Booth. Loving father of Catherine Booth (Michael Kirk), Kevin (Rhona) Booth and Alison Booth (Martin Guenette). Cherished grandpa of Brittany, Chelsea, Colton, Keaton, and Kendyl. Walter was a business and community leader. For many years, as owner and president of The Timberland Group, he travelled the world to build a successful global company. He served on the Board of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, and many other local initiatives. Walter believed in giving back, and several organizations benefitted from his generosity: The Salvation Army, Loran Scholars Foundation, and the Woodstock Hospital. McMaster University held a special place in his heart for its support as he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering to advance his career. Among his several contributions to McMaster was the creation of the W. Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology to educate the next generation of leaders. A celebration of Walter's life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Walter's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Woodstock Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the KEITH OVINGTON FUNERAL HOME , 134 King Street, Burford, Ontario, 519-449-1112, www.keithovington.ca The family would like to thank the team at Woodstock Hospital for the outstanding and compassionate care provided to Walter.
