NIXON, Vera Norry - Born and raised in Woodstock Vera passed away peacefully on November 10, 2016 in Vancouver at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Dr. John E. (Jack) Nixon and her treasured daughter, Mary (David). She is survived by her children, John (Suzanne), David (Debbie), Timothy (Monique), Norry (Jerry), Nancy (Ken) and Ann (Darcy). Grandchildren, John Michael (Kelly), James (Tess), Patrick (Michelle), Laurence (Sarah), Genevieve, Rosemary (Peter), Tristan, Chantal (Charles), Lianne, Marc (Tiffani), Timothy Paul, Peter, Nicholas, Kelly, Christopher, Devon and Alysha; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Charleigh, Andrew, Elizabeth, William, Nicholas, Michael, Alexandre, Mathieu and Isabelle, with two more expected soon. A graduate of the University of Toronto Vera worked before children as a legal secretary. She and Jack came to Vancouver from Woodstock, Ontario, on their honeymoon in 1950 and made their home there. Vera gave countless volunteer hours to the schools her children attended, Vancouver College and Little Flower Academy, her parish and much loved Van Dusen Botanical Garden, including terms as a Governor and President of the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association. Prayers will be said at 7:00 pm, Monday, November 21, at the Church of Sts. Peter & Paul, 1430 West 38th Avenue, Vancouver, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 22. Interment will follow at Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery in Surrey. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (http://www.cbcf.org/bc).
