HOWEY, Shirley Mae - "Your wings were ready but our hearts were not." After an inspiring journey of life, we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Howey peacefully at her home, on November 17, 2016. Loving mother of the late Timothy Howey (1998), and the daughter of the late Mary Jane and William Pellow, and the late Francis Sales Frizelle. Known as “Sis”, her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her brothers, Wray (Elaine) Frizelle, Ron (Juanita) Frizelle, William (Donna) Frizelle, Karl (Sharon) Pellow, Lloyd (Pam) Pellow, the late Allen Pellow, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by her greatest friend Jean Howey, and her loving cousin Nancy Miles. “Aunt Sis” was an incredible role model to her nieces Rhonda, Cyndi, and great niece Ashley as we journeyed together through this incredible battle with cancer. You leave them all with memories, learnings and family values. Shirley’s sense of humor and strength will long be remembered in the many photos and unforgettable stories left behind. Public visitation was held on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in the afternoon between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm and in the evening between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway St., Tillsonburg. Funeral service to be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday the 21st of November, 2016 at MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES - BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., Tillsonburg. Interment at the Straffordville Cemetery, Straffordville, Ontario. Shirley was a very giving and passionate lady, always wanting to help others. Should family and friends wish to donate in Shirley’s memory, donations can be forwarded and payable (by cheque only) to the "South West CCAC - Complex Palliative Team" through the MAURICE J. VERHOEVE FUNERAL HOMES - BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. , Tillsonburg (519)842-4238. A warm thank you to the staff at London Health Sciences Centre - London Regional Cancer program, Dave and the CCAC South West team, Care Partners- Jerlene, Leticia, nurse Lindsey, and a very special thanks to Nurse Jen for her comfort, compassion and support through this difficult transition.
