COOK, Gladys Emily (née Butcher) - Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Caressant Care, St. Thomas, at the age of 95. Devoted wife of the late Leslie Cook (1994) of Woodstock. Loved mother of John (Millie Gremonprez) Cook, and his late wife Bonnie Cook (2004) and Roger Cook. Much loved grandmother of Christi-Anne (Dennis) and Scott (Alison) and great grandmother of Émilie and Liam. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews both in Canada, the UK and Spain. Predeceased by her other nine siblings in England, Gladys was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Surrey, England in 1921, Gladys immigrated to Canada in 1946. She was proud to call herself one of the thousands of war brides who had married Canadian servicemen and who chose to establish a new life in Canada. She spent her years in Woodstock, before moving in recent years to the St. Thomas area. The family is very appreciative of the years of wonderful care and attention received while living at Caressant Care on Mary Bucke in St. Thomas. Friends will be received at the BROCK AND VISSER FUNERAL HOME , 845 Devonshire ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Monday, September 18th, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm followed by a service in the chapel at 1:00 pm. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. Personal online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com
