HUNT, Ernest Allen - 1933 - 2018 With a heavy heart we announce the passing our father Ernie on January 23, 2018. Ernie was predeceased by his wife Yvonne in 2000. He leaves his loving children: Linda (Dick), Deb (Kerry), David (Kelley), Brenda (Jake), Colleen (Ken), Nancy (Marvin), Angela. Proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Ernie is also survived by Gwen Hunt. Dear brother of Art Hunt, Bill Huitema, Thea Huitema and Joe Huitema. Ernie took great pride in his work, on the railroad, with CN, as an assistant Roadmaster. His later career was with Oxford County contributing as a Facility Manager. During his retirement he contributed to the town of Ingersoll by sitting on Town Council as a counsellor. While on council he served on many boards including the Upper Thames Conservation Authority and the Ingersoll Police Services Board. He loved to build things. He took great pride in designing and building Mill Valley Railroad. This was a miniature community, with a working railroad, in the ravine beside his home. This community became a child's delight during the holiday season and, this beautiful display, was enjoyed yearly by many of Ingersoll's citizens. Many will remember Ernie by his smile and warm handshake saying "Shake the hand that shook the World". The family will receive friends at the McBEATH DYNES FUNERAL HOME , 246 Thames St. S., Ingersoll, 519-425-1600, on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto, McGarrell Place, or the Alzheimer's Society of Oxford would be appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home.
