McGaw, Karen (Died)

On Thursday September 5, 2019, Karen McGaw, loving wife, mother of two sons and grandmother of three, passed away peacefully at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 57.

Beloved wife to Jay VanKuik, loving mother to Nick (Jessica) Shier and Alex (Ashley) Shier and the best "Me Maw" to her grandchildren Ali, Archer and Alivia.

She is survived by her parents Carolyn and Les McGaw and brother Steve McGaw. She will be sadly missed by her aunt Eileen Williams, her children Janice and Glen, Aunt Rosemary (Keith) Force and their children Laura, Greg and Leisa as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Karen worked nearly 30 years at Cami in Ingersoll. She was a lifelong seamstress, creative designer passionate about fashion: "Me Maw was the best maker!" She loved swimming in her pool with her grand-children and reading relentlessly.

The family would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. Bruce, Dr, McGee, Dawn Chetley and the rest of her healthcare team.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held at the Elm Hurst Inn 415 Harris Street, Ingersoll, Ontario on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Through the Trillium Network, Karen was able to donate her gift of sight so that someone could continue her voracious appetite for reading.

As an expression of love, the family is encouraging the donation of blood, registering for organ donation and supporting the local public library.WAREING CREMATION SERVICES INC.,
